About Us

Our Centre is licensed by the NSW Department of Education and Communities to provide High Quality Long Day Care to 29 children per day, from ages 6 weeks to 6 years. We are a community based Not for profit Service offering affordable and competitive prices for our families.

We are open from 7:30am-6:00pm Monday to Friday.

Muswellbrook Child Care Centre Inc has been assessed against the National Quality Standards for Early Childhood Education and Care and are currently rated Meeting National Quality Standards. These ratings have been awarded in accordance with the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 and the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011.

Our centre has 2 rooms- The Birth- Three Environment and The Preschool Room.

Birth to Three Environment (0-3)

The Birth to three environment consists of 9 Children per day with 2 educators. With the new Staff/ Child Ratios in place we have four Children under 2 years per day and five Children from 2-3 yrs.

Our friendly birth-three educators ensure:

  • Children feel safe and secure in our Home like environment.
  • Children are supported to reach Developmental Milestones
  • Children are provided with Developmentally Appropriate activities that foster all areas of their Development.
  • A strong and respectful relationship is made with all families to ensure the best possible care for your child.
  • Information is displayed daily on your child’s routine. Parents will have individual information on their child’s day.
  • Your child’s physical, social and Emotional needs are met.
  • High quality care for your baby or toddler in our warm and caring environment

Preschool Room (3-6)

Our Preschool Room consists of 20 Children Per day, aging from 3-6 years of age. We have 3 educators currently in the Preschool Room. We run a play based Preschool Program, which also involves School Readiness.

Our friendly Preschool Room educators ensure:

  • Children feel safe and secure in our Home like environment.
  • Children are supported and encouraged to express themselves through a variety of media.
  • A school readiness program is available for Children in their year before school.
  • Children are encouraged and learn self help skills
  • A strong and respectful relationship is made with all families to ensure the best possible care for your child.
  • Your child is encouraged to form relationships and develop social skills.
  • Children’s interests are acknowledged and respected and are facilitated.
  • Introduction to art/craft experiences using different materials and resources.
  • Your child can be who they wish to be…. themselves!
  • High quality care for your Preschool Age child in our warm and caring environment.

Meals

All meals are provided at the centre. We provide:

  • Morning Tea
  • Lunch
  • Afternoon Tea
  • Late Afternoon Tea (after 4:30pm)

Morning Tea consists of fresh fruit and Wholegrain sandwiches with Milk daily. For lunch, a nutritious, balanced meal is provided. This is a hot meal, except for sandwich day which alternates.

There are a variety of Afternoon Tea’s displayed on our menu. A menu is displayed on the notice board in your child’s room and also outside the kitchen Door, in the foyer. Please indicate any food allergies that your child may have. It is not necessary to bring any food or drink into the centre.

Food preferences are respected, eg- due to Religious or cultural backgrounds. We will accommodate this wherever possible. If you have any concerns about our menu’s or your child’s diet, please talk to our trained staff. Our cook has qualifications in food Handling and Menu Planning and Nutrition.

Fees and Child Care Subsidy

Fees are payable in advance either per day or per week. Fees must not be in arrears. Fees can be paid by direct deposit or placed in an envelope and put into the fees box in the front foyer. Our office hours are Monday-Friday 8-12. For more information on fees you can contact us at the centre.

If eligible, Child Care Subsidy is available for financial assistance with fees. It is a payment from the Australian Government to assist with the cost of Child Care. For further information on Child Care Subsidy you can contact the Family Assistance Office on 136 150.

Management Committee

Our Centre is a community based Long day Care Centre which is run by a Management Committee of dedicated parents. The Committee is elected each year at our Annual General Meeting. The Committee consists of the President, Vice president, Secretary, Public Officer, Treasurer and General Committee members. Please support your centre by standing for a position on our committee. Without these dedicated parents and management Committee our Centre would not be able to operate.

Our centre policies are on display in our foyer. Please feel free to look at our centre policies. You may ask staff if you require a copy or any additional information.

Parent Involvement

We encourage you to be involved in your child’s early Childhood education. We would love for you to be actively involved in centre Activities. If you have something special to share with the children in our centre, please feel free to come in and spend some time with us.

There are special occasions throughout the year which parents are invited into the centre, eg- Family’s night, Christmas Parties, lunches and morning teas etc. We also hold working bees throughout the year (once or twice), where voluntary labour will ensure money saved can be spent on equipment for your children. If you have any ideas, please come into the centre and talk to our staff.
